Most 'word' topics are in motion as we speak. &lt;BR/&gt;&lt;BR/&gt;As a CIO in the US DoD sector one of the business shifts I find myself leading at is in improvements in Strategic Planning, Capital Planning Investment Control, Performance Management, and Enterprise Risk Management - for organizational mission investments - as well as the IT domain. Improvements in the application of this holistic governance model has led to improvements in each area of governance - a better business framework, more strategically focused, and prepared for the reduction in funding we all expect to see over the next few years. &lt;BR/&gt;&lt;BR/&gt;That leads me to believe my title should be 'Chief Influence Officer'. In fact I hate the term - I like to look at it as challenging my effectiveness and efficiency. Sometimes reducing cost isn't the best result. Increasing business value is always the best result!&lt;BR/&gt;In my experience. the best way of managing expectations of a team is to talk about value.
